Born in Yixing in March 1972, He Ye grew up immersed in art under the influence of her father, Mr. He Daohong, a Chinese Ceramic Art Master. After graduating from high school, she began to learn the craft under her father’s direct tutelage. Through his dedicated guidance and her own diligent study, she developed a solid foundation in fully handcrafted forming techniques. She is capable of independently handling the complete production sequence—from design drawing, clay blending, and hand-building, all the way through to kiln firing and final inspection. In February 1992, she was selected by the Yixing Zisha Craft Factory to undertake specialized training in Ceramic Form Design at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, and successfully completed the program. Between 2005 and 2013, she obtained a bachelor’s degree through systematic study. Her works are characterized by rounded, full-bodied forms and a strong sense of dynamic tension. In 2016, she traveled to the United Kingdom to participate in the “Purple Air from the East – Chinese Zisha Art Exhibition.” Her piece “De Yu” Teapot (Virtue Jade Teapot) won the Gold Award in the “Zitao Cup” at the inaugural Guangzhou Zisha Ceramic Art Culture Festival.
He Ye is also a close friend of the artist Wei Ren.
