The lotus seed (“lian zi”) has long been a beloved motif. From ancient times to today, many works in porcelain and Yixing clay have drawn inspiration from the lotus. As the saying goes: “The lotus grows from the heart; the heart gives birth to all forms.”

Rising unstained from the mud, the lotus symbolizes purity and nobility. It embodies the literati’s pursuit and reverence for integrity throughout history.

The ox (“niu”) was central to agricultural society. It held a sacred place in people’s hearts—representing diligence, dedication, and resilience. It embodies a tenacious spirit and relentless perseverance.

The Ox-Nosed Lotus Seed Teapot is relatively rare. It is named for its distinct ox-nose-shaped lid. Created in the 1960s–70s, it reflects the social ethos of that era. It symbolizes hard work, integrity, and humility.

Retaining the delicate form of classic lotus seed teapots, it stands more upright and broad-shouldered. It feels comfortable and balanced in the hand.

The body blends roundness within a square structure. Its lines are clean and sharp. The teapot exudes a dignified and scholarly charm.

The ox-nose lid is not only adorable and charming—it’s also practical to hold. The wide opening aids heat dissipation. It makes adding tea and cleaning easy. Suitable for brewing various types of tea.
