Born in 1954 in Yixing, Jiangsu, in the town of Shushan. In 1972, he joined the Yixing Purple Clay Craft Factory. His early mentor was the renowned China National Master of Arts and Crafts, Lü Yaochen. He was later highly esteemed by the legendary master of purple clay art, Gu Jingzhou, and was accepted as a formal disciple, receiving direct transmission of his techniques. In 1983, he furthered his studies in the Modeling Design Training Program at the Central Academy of Craft Arts, specializing in ceramic form design, which greatly enriched his practice. Through decades of dedicated study and meticulous craftsmanship, he began to display his artistic talent and achieved notable success in the 1980s. His works are highly regarded by both the ceramic art community and collectors.
In 1978, his work Double Dragons Playing with a Pearl – Loop-Handled Teapot was presented as a state gift to Japanese Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka. In 1980, his Large and Small Book-Shaped Flat Teapots were collected by the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK and the Zhongnanhai Purple Light Pavilion in China, respectively. In 2006, his Millennium Dragon-Phoenix Teapot was acquired by the Zhongnanhai Purple Light Pavilion, and in 2007, his Ribbed Jade Teapot was collected by the National Art Museum of China.
