This is a 170 ml fully handmade Yixing teapot by the artist Wu Hongkang 吴洪慷. Its form is inspired by the pine tree. The raw materials are original-ore (yuan kuang 原矿) Dicaoqing (Di Cao Qing) clay from No. 4 Mine of Huanglong Mountain, Yixing, and black clay from Huanglong Mountain.

Born in Zisha Village, Yixing, in 1990.
Steeped in zisha culture from childhood, he was deeply influenced by it.
He apprenticed under Wu Zhen 吴震, a researcher-level senior arts and crafts master,
and also received guidance from Yuan Xiaoqiang 袁小强, a highly skilled craftsman, gaining entry into the inner mysteries of the craft.
He is especially known for making traditional plain and floral zisha wares.
Although Wu Hongkang is a member of the post-90s generation,
he has been involved with zisha for nearly twenty years.
Exploring the mysteries of zisha from a young person’s perspective,
he has developed a distinctive understanding of zisha,
so his works often reveal striking creativity.
In May 2015, he won the gold award at the First Yixing Newcomers and New Works Fully Handmade Pottery Competition.
In June 2015, he won second prize in the 10th Handmade Pottery Competition of the Vocational Skills Competition.
In October 2015, he won an Excellence Award in the Jingzhou Cup Teapot-making Competition.
In May 2016, he won the gold award in the Zisha New Talent Grand Prix.
In 2017, his work was permanently collected by the Wuxi Museum.
In May 2018, he won the gold award in the “Shengbao Cup” of the Vocational Skills Competition.
In 2016, his work “Su Xin” was included in the Beijing Hanhai Spring Auction and sold for RMB 25,300 = 3777 USD.
In 2017, his work “Xin Zhu” was included in the Beijing Hanhai Spring Auction and sold for RMB 28,750 = 4291 USD.
In 2018, his work “Jing Song” was included in the Beijing Hanhai Spring Auction and sold for RMB 36,800 = 5492 USD.
