Description
Cultural Background
Ping gai shi piao Yi xing (yi shing) teapot
This teapot has a simple, elegant, and sturdy shape with a low center of gravity, giving it a strong, solid feel. The handle combines strength and softness, the spout stands straight, and the plain bridge knob and flat lid complement each other beautifully.
The transition between the body and the base is perfectly balanced—full of energy yet not too sharp—showing exceptional skill. The smooth lines make the design harmonious, easy to handle, and perfect for brewing tea.
The whole teapot feels lively but not overly sharp, achieving a perfect balance of "bone and flesh," reflecting the highest level of craftsmanship.

This Dicaoqing ore was mined in 1990 from the No. 4 Well Mining Area of Huanglong Mountain in Dingshu Town, Yixing City. Over the next four years, it was carefully processed into clay by Siyutao Clay Workshop.
Crafting Process
-
Material Selection: High-quality Dicaoqing ore chunks were handpicked.
-
Weathering: The ore was naturally weathered in an open-air stockyard for three years.
-
Second Selection: The finest pieces were manually chosen again from the best ore.
-
Crushing: The Dicaoqing ore was ground into powder using a traditional stone mill.
After many meticulous steps, the clay blocks were formed. Throughout the process, Siyutao insisted on traditional handcrafting methods—no machinery was used, and only pure water was added (no chemicals)—to achieve the highest quality clay.
In 1994, the clay blocks were stored in a cellar for moisture retention and aging. It wasn’t until 2025 that the clay was finally retrieved.
Through 30 years of natural aging, Siyutao has obtained the finest, highest-grade Dicaoqing clay. Its color is naturally deep and rich in minerals, presenting a pure, brown hue—a true masterpiece of time and tradition.
