Born in 1959 in Yixing, Jiangsu, the Pottery Capital, he entered the Zisha Craft Factory as an apprentice in 1978 and studied under Shu Fengying 束凤英 and Ding Hongshun 丁洪顺 . Naturally gifted with an intuitive understanding of Zisha, he is modest and eager to learn and bold in innovation. His works integrate the strengths of many schools and the brilliance of many artists, combining masters’ techniques, bearing, and forms. They possess the vigorous, solid force of Master He Daohong’s forms, Master Chen Guoliang’s thin-body technique, and Master Lü Yaochen’s jiaoni (clay-marbling) technique. For decades, teapot circles have praised him: “A person’s character is like his teapot; seeing the teapot is like seeing the person.”
The Desert Dunhuang Teapot (three-piece set) won gold and silver awards at the China National Arts and Crafts Master Fine Works Exhibition.
The Desert Dunhuang Teapot (three-piece set) won the gold award at the 2012 Jiangsu Arts and Crafts Fine Works Expo held by the Ministry of Light Industry.
The Fei Tea Set won the gold award at the East China Arts and Crafts Competition; in 2013, it won the gold award at the 2nd “My Favorite Zisha Artists and Works” TV and Online Selection, co-hosted by Henan Museum and Henan TV Station.
The Golden Melon Teapot won the gold award in the appraisal by the China National Light Industry Council.
National design patents were granted for the Xinyi Teapot, Ziyu Jinfang, Great Buddha Dunhuang Teapot, Fei Teapot, Pine, Bamboo and Plum Combination Teapot, Wofang Teapot, and Shengji Teapot.
Green Pines Vying in Beauty won the gold award at the 3rd “My Favorite Zisha Artists and Works” TV and Online Selection.
