Born in 1963 into a pottery-artist family in Yixing, the “Pottery Capital,” she studied under the husband-and-wife team of Chinese Arts and Crafts Masters Li Changhong 李昌鸿 and Shen Juhua 沈遽华. Her father, Yang Boyin 杨伯荫, was the first curator of the China Yixing Zisha Museum.

After graduating from high school, she was admitted to the Yixing Ceramic Design and Decoration Professional Class. In 1980, she began an internship at the Yixing Zisha Crafts Factory, first studying ceramic engraving under Senior Arts and Crafts Artist Xian Zhongying, and later studying teapot making under her aunt Zhou Huimin, who entered the Zisha Crafts Factory in 1958.

In 1993, she pursued further studies in the Department of Ceramic Art Design at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, now the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University. She was later seconded to the Research Institute of the Yixing Celadon Factory to engage in shape design and decoration.

In 2001, she and her husband Qian Gang, a Chinese Traditional Arts and Crafts Master, founded Yixing Yiren Ceramics Co., Ltd. and the “Yiren Yitao” Zisha Art Studio.

Over the years, she has collaborated many times with Zisha art masters and renowned calligraphers and painters. Her works have won numerous national, provincial, and municipal awards.
