Wang Guoxiang
Master of Arts and Crafts, Jiangsu Province
Wang Guoxiang is a distinguished Zisha (purple clay) artist from Yixing, recognized as a provincial Master of Arts and Crafts in Jiangsu. He currently serves as the Chief Craft Artist at Yixing Xianghexuan Ceramic Art Research Institute and the Art Director of Yixing Jinda Ceramic Art Company.

Wang began his apprenticeship in 1970 at Yixing Zisha Pottery Factory under veteran artisan Chen Fuyuan, later receiving guidance from the revered master Gu Jingzhou. He further studied ceramic art at Nanjing University of Technology (1974) and ceramic design at Nanjing University of the Arts.

Renowned for his square-form teapots—a signature style reflecting clarity, structure, and dignified elegance—his works blend traditional craftsmanship with scholarly refinement. Notable pieces include Jifang Teapot, Baofang Teapot, Fangzhou Teapot, Yaming Fang Teapot, Yabian Fang Teapot, and Qiuyun Teapot.

Wang’s works have been featured in authoritative publications such as Contemporary Chinese Zisha Illustrated Dictionary, Selected Works from the Ceramic World, and Taiwan’s Appreciation of Treasures. His pieces are also held in the collections of several museums and art institutions across China and internationally.
