Born in 1956, Huang Ziying (黄自英) joined the Yixing Purple Sand Craft Factory in Jiangsu in 1972. He studied purple sand carving and shaping techniques under China National Master of Arts and Crafts Bao Zhiqiang and Jiangsu Provincial Master of Arts and Crafts Cao Wanfen. He has conducted in-depth research and analysis of traditional purple sand forms, earnestly studied the classical styles and artistic essence of ancient and earlier masters, and boldly created innovative purple sand forms and decorative techniques. His works primarily feature unadorned (plain) styles, showcasing a distinctive approach in which he independently designs the form, crafts the teapot, and creates the carving decorations. His new creations, such as Large Bamboo Handle, Golden Rooster Brings Fortune, Harmony, and New Journey, are highly acclaimed and admired by the purple sand community. His works have won many awards at domestic and international exhibitions, among which Golden Rooster Brings Fortune is housed in the prestigious Zhongnanhai Ziguang Pavilion in Beijing.
