Born in 1965 in Dingshu Town, Yixing, Jiangsu Province, Xu Yanchun (许艳春) graduated from Nanjing University of the Arts in 1989. She is currently based at the Yixing Zisha Pottery Factory #1, where she creates Zisha (purple clay) teapots. Recognized for her innovative approach, she has developed and introduced several distinctive series, including the "Thrown Teapot Series," "Pinched Teapot Series," and "Decorative Series," which have garnered significant attention and acclaim.

Her work has been featured in prominent publications and media. In 1994, Cultural Relics Press published her album In Search of the Future: A Collection of Zisha Teapot Art. The following year, the Japanese edition of People's China magazine dedicated its January-December issues to highlighting her work under the title "Pioneering New Frontiers in Zisha Teapot Art." In 1997, the documentary "The Birth of the Thrown Teapot," which focused on her creative process, was broadcast internationally on CCTV, receiving widespread praise.
