Wu qimin (吴奇敏) Born in 1964 into a ceramic family.

1979 – Began working with purple clay pottery; received guidance from older generation masters such as Gu Jingzhou, Jiang Rong, and Xu Hantang.

1985 – Became a disciple of Wu Qunxiang, a Jiangsu Provincial Ceramic Art Master and an outstanding student of Gu Jingzhou.

1993 – Attended a course in modeling and design at the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts (now part of Tsinghua University).

October 2007 – Appointed as a full-time handcrafted teapot making instructor at the Purple Clay Art Training Center of Jiangsu Ceramic Art Training Base.

2009 – Became a disciple of Lü Yaochen, a National Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts.

May 2011 – Appointed as an adjunct associate professor by Jiangsu Vocational College of Economics and Trade.

2012 – Attended an advanced training program at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University.

2012 onward – Participated in five consecutive editions of the International Tea Culture Exchange Exhibition organized by the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University.

2016 – Appointed as a part-time instructor at the School of Ceramics, Wuxi Institute of Arts and Technology.

2017 – Won second place in the First Jiangsu Provincial Local Heritage Traditional Skills Competition.

2018 – Appointed as a visiting professor by the Institute of Ceramics and Liuli Culture, Qilu University of Technology.

With over thirty years of meticulous study and a solid foundation in full-handcrafting techniques, Wu Qimin creates works that excel in both large and small scales. Her pieces are distinguished by a simple yet dignified form, smooth and full lines, and a quality reminiscent of pearls and jade — round, lustrous, and refined.
