wang xiaoli

Born in 1971 in the "Hometown of Carving," Wang Xiaoli inherits tradition while boldly innovating. Her works have won numerous domestic and international awards. She studied under Chinese Master of Arts and Crafts Lu Jinqiao, excelled academically, and was retained as a teacher before being recommended for advanced studies at Tsinghua University’s Department of Arts and Crafts. She later apprenticed under provincial master and senior craft artist Chu Lizhi. In 2012, she became a formal disciple of Chinese Master of Arts and Crafts Chen Wenzeng, and in 2018, she studied under Chinese Ceramic Art Master Luo Xiaoping. In 2020, she was specially appointed as a lecturer for Yixing’s "Youth Ceramic Talent Advancement Program" by the Yixing Ceramics Museum.

Exhibitions & Publications

  • 2009: Held Elegant Zisha solo exhibition at Suzhou Jiaying Art Museum.

  • 2010: Held Passion for Zisha solo exhibition at Fo Guang Shan Dajue Temple.

  • Authored Harmony in Many Conditions: My Sculpture of Venerable Master Hsing Yun and The Potter, The Vessel, The Mind (winner of the second prize in Yixing’s 2009 Outstanding Academic Paper Selection).

  • 2017: Abstract Composition, Figurative Realism, and Imaginative Vitality won third prize in the 5th Jiangsu "Yibo Cup" Ceramic Art Paper Competition.

  • 2018: Published Sculpting Dreams, Praising the Feitian—Exploring the Creative Elements of Zisha Buddhist Sculpture "Feitian of Prosperity" in Ceramic Science and Art (Issue 7, 2018).
