Born in 1966 into a family of potters in Yixing, Gu Meiqun (顾美群) began her apprenticeship under her mother in 1982. She later studied under Wu Ming, a renowned Chinese ceramic art master, from whom she gained profound guidance and inspiration. In 1998, she founded “Mei Tao Yuan” – a Yixing teapart art research workshop.

With over thirty-five years of dedication to Zisha teapot creation, her works cover a wide range of themes, characterized by rich imagination and a contemporary sensibility. She skillfully integrates form, vitality, philosophy, and life attitude into her art, imbuing each piece with harmony and serenity. Through simplicity, she captures unique, innovative perspectives, revealing distinct artistic language and pursuits that have attracted significant attention.

Her innovative works have received many awards, including the Gold Prize at the China Four Famous Kilns Exhibition, the Gold Prize at the Chinese Arts and Crafts “Originality •百花 Cup” Awards, and awards at the 10th, 9th, 8th, and 5th National Ceramic Art Design Innovation Competitions. She also won the Gold Prize in the First Jiangsu Ceramic Art Innovation Competition and the Silver Prize in the Jiangsu “Yibo Cup” Arts and Crafts Excellence Awards.

Gu’s works are housed in the Zhongnanhai Purple Light Pavilion, various domestic and international museums, cultural and educational foundations, and private collections. She has published several academic papers on specialized research in ceramic art.









Additionally, she has been invited to deliver lectures and conduct ceramic art exchanges at well-known universities and ceramic centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and Taiwan, China.
