Description
This teapot has a capacity of 245 ml. It is a fully handcrafted piece by Sun Bo 孙博, a Chinese National Master of Arts and Crafts 中国国家级工艺美术师. Featuring distinct ribbed lines, this type of teapot is known as a "ribbed ware" 筋纹器, one of the classic forms of traditional Yixing teapots.
The teapot is made from a food‑safe clay called Min Guo Lü Ni 民国绿泥 . Its base is Ben Shan Lü Ni 本山绿泥 , another rare clay, with safe cobalt oxide added. The ordinary commercial formula uses Duan Ni as a base, which is low‑cost but results in a dull, muted color. SiYuTao uses the rare Ben Shan Lü Ni as its foundation; this clay costs as much as 10,000 RMB per bundle, but using it as a base yields a jade‑like texture and a bright, glossy luster.
Siyutao has obtained certification under China's National Geographical Indication system and has been officially authorized by the government to use the Yixing zisha 宜兴紫砂 geographical indication. Out of the tens of thousands of teaware merchants in Yixing, only three have been granted this distinction to date, and Siyutao is among them. This is a beautifully crafted teapot. It is super light and thin walled, yet stable and secure. It is the only luni teapot I own and the only half handmade luni pot that I have ever seen and, as such, is available at an incredible price. The clay crystals have an amazing look to them. The design and size at 90ml is perfect for solo gonfu and the pour is just right. If your passion is collecting and using special zisha clay pots, this one really can't be passed up.

The craftsmanship is impeimpeccable (thin walls, tight lid fit, superb water flow, high pitch "cling" sound,. . ) and the clay quality is amazing!
I use it for floral oolongs(dancong, wuyi, bāozhòng, tie guan yin) floral black teas (Keemun, usmoked lapsang), but also for more floral and fruity Sheng Pu Erhs (Gua Feng Zhai, Yiwu, Jingmai, Bangdong,. . ) and it brews all of them to perfection (aroma & mouth feel).
