Born in Yixing in 1964, Zhang Zhenzhong (张振中)earned his master’s degree from Tsinghua University after completing studies at Jiangsu University. Since 1990, he has dedicated his career to the design and creation of Zisha teapots.

His works embody both the artistic essence of traditional Chinese Zisha pottery and the aesthetic spirit of contemporary art, bridging his personal artistic practice with the broader history of art. With a global and modern perspective, he has revitalized the path of traditional Chinese Zisha art.

Zhang’s works have been exhibited and awarded in numerous domestic and international exhibitions, including the “2nd National Ceramic Art Exhibition,” “10th National Fine Arts Exhibition,” “National Ceramic Art Innovation Exhibition,” and “6th Cairo International Ceramics Biennale.” His pieces are held in the collections of prestigious institutions such as the National Art Museum of China, Ziguang Pavilion of Zhongnanhai, Academy of Fine Arts at Tsinghua University, Nanjing Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and the Hong Kong Museum of Tea Ware, as well as by private collectors.

He has edited publications such as Ancient Charm and Clear Flow, Pure Beauty of Purple Clay, Heritage Collection, and Elegance in Purple Clay. Zhang has led research on national-level sub-projects, such as Case Studies on the Chinese Folk Art Market, and provincial-level initiatives, including “Construction and Practice of a Curriculum System Linking Secondary and Higher Vocational Ceramic Art Programs.” He also contributed to the national teaching resource database project “Hundred Crafts: Inheritance and Innovation of Chinese Intangible Cultural Heritage in Arts and Crafts.”
