Li Shoucai

 

Born on June 19, 1954, in Shanghai, Li Shoucai holds a college diploma. In December 1971, he joined Yixing Jun Pottery Factory, apprenticing under the veteran artist Mr. Zhang Haoyuan, and has been dedicated to the art of embossed ceramic decoration ever since.

His innovative works, such as Phoenix Playing with Peonies and Joy of Fish, have earned numerous accolades, including:

  • 5 Gold Awards, 1 Special Prize, 4 Silver Awards, and 5 Bronze Awards at the 8th, 9th, and 10th National Ceramic Art Innovation Design Competitions and other major national ceramic art exhibitions.

  • 6 Gold Awards, 9 Silver Awards, and 5 Bronze Awards in provincial ceramic art competitions.

He has published 2 monographs and multiple academic papers. Nine of his works are housed in prestigious institutions, including the National Museum of China, Ziguang Pavilion of Zhongnanhai (Beijing), and the Capital Museum.
