From an early age, Jiang was immersed in the rich heritage of zisha culture. In 1989, she formally embarked on her artistic career by joining the Yixing Purple Clay Craft Factory (zisha factory No.1), a cradle of many legendary potters. During the critical years of skill development, she studied traditional teapot‑making techniques under Senior Craft Artists Ge Taozhong 葛陶中 and Zhou Dinghua 周定华. She also had the rare privilege of receiving personal guidance from the grandmaster Gu Jingzhou 顾景舟, which laid a rock‑solid foundation for her craftsmanship.

In 1994, Jiang furthered her education at the Central Academy of Arts and Design (now the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University 清华大学), specializing in zisha form and design. She later completed her undergraduate studies at Nanjing Normal University, transitioning from purely technical expertise to a deeper understanding of artistic theory. To broaden her stylistic horizons, she became a disciple of Master Bao Zhiqiang, a renowned Chinese arts and crafts master.

Jiang Liwen’s works are celebrated for their vivid expressiveness, dignified simplicity, and harmonious interplay of strong and supple lines. She excels at infusing classic forms with contemporary aesthetic sensibilities, so that each piece carries both profound cultural resonance and a distinctly modern spirit.

Her creative achievements are remarkable. Her representative pieces – Ancient Bronze Tripod Teapot, Dragon and Phoenix Teapot, and Fish Leaping over the Dragon Gate Teapot – won the National Gold Award at the China Masterpieces of Arts and Crafts Exhibition & Competition held in Shanghai for 13 consecutive years (from 2002 to 2015). This exceptional “golden streak” is a rare feat in the zisha world, a testament to her outstanding skill and artistic vision.

She stands as a distinguished representative of contemporary purple clay art, embodying academic depth, a sense of cultural mission, and strong market recognition.
