Born in 1965 in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. As a teenager, he systematically studied purple clay (Zisha) techniques under the guidance of China National Arts and Crafts Masters Lyu Yaochen and Tan Quanhai. Later, he became an apprentice to both masters and devoted himself to the creative design of Zisha ceramic art. He studied painting and calligraphy under the renowned artist and teacher Chu Yun.

His works have developed a distinctive style of their own, with lasting charm and typical Chinese flavor. He emphasizes the interplay of void and solidity, simplicity and complexity, as well as realism. He values both functionality and artistry. Gao Jun excels in various forms of Zisha art, including teapots and sculptures. Since beginning his career, he has designed hundreds of original works.

He has won dozens of major awards, including the Gold Award at the Milan Expo, the Silver Award at the International Folk Handicraft Exhibition, the Gold Award (Guoyi Cup) at the China Fine Arts and Crafts Expo, the Gold Award at the China Folk Crafts Expo, and the Gold Award of the China Folk Literature and Art "Shanhua" Award. His works have been collected by the National Museum of Malaysia, the China Literature and Art Foundation, the Shaanxi History Museum, the Shandong Museum, as well as by foreign dignitaries, first ladies, and many other art groups and individuals.

He has been invited many times to Italy, Malaysia, Taiwan (region of China), and elsewhere for ceramic art exchanges.
