Born in 1970, Shi began his apprenticeship in 1989 under Xu Xiutang, a renowned Chinese Master of Arts and Crafts and Master of Ceramic Art. He is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (UNESCO), a visiting scholar at the Chinese National Academy of Arts, and the project leader of the National Arts Fund initiative “Step and Innovation: Exhibition of Works by the Nine Jun Zisha Masters.” He also leads the Inheritance and Innovation Base for Masters of Arts and Crafts under the China Light Industry Council.

His roles include: expert at the Price Certification Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Expert of Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Artist with Both Professional Excellence and Moral Integrity, Jiangsu Rural Talent with “Triple Leadership” (带名人), Jiangsu紫金Cultural Creative Talent, Outstanding Young Folk Artist of Jiangsu, Top Ten Craftsman of Jiangsu Arts and Crafts, Jiangsu卓越Technician (Class A), and director of both the Jiangsu Rural Talent Skill Master Studio and the Jiangsu Rural Talent Master Demonstration Studio.

Additionally, he serves as a guest researcher at the Zisha Art Research Institute of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, an industrial professor in Jiangsu, a guest professor and master’s supervisor at the China Zisha Art Design Research Institute of Jiangsu University, a guest professor at Yunnan Arts University, and a special professor at Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology. He has served as an instructor at the Clay Sculpture Art Workshop of the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, a practice mentor for innovation and entrepreneurship courses at the Nanjing University School of Arts, an entrepreneurship mentor at the Nanjing Institute of Technology, and an evaluation expert for the Jiangsu Arts Fund.

His professional appointments also include: Deputy Director and Secretary-General of the Zisha Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Arts and Crafts, Council Member of the China Ceramic Industry Association, Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Folk Artists Association and Deputy Director/Secretary-General of its Zisha Committee, Executive Director of the Jiangsu Arts and Crafts Industry Association and Deputy Director of its Ceramic Art and Intangible Cultural Heritage Committees, Executive Director of the Jiangsu Arts and Crafts Society and Deputy Director of its Zisha Committee, Deputy Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Ceramic Industry Association and Vice President of its Ceramic Art Committee, Senior Title Judge for Jiangsu Arts and Crafts and Rural Talent, Vice Chairman of the Wuxi Folk Artists Association, Vice Chairman of the Yixing Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and Vice President of the Yixing Ceramic Industry Association.

He is the Design Director of Changlehong Ceramic Art Company, convener and artistic director of the “Zisha Nine Jun,” and chief designer.

Shi has served as a member of the 14th and 15th Yixing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and as a standing committee member of the 16th session.

His works have received numerous awards, including the Golden Tripod Award and Hundred Crane Award from the China National Light Industry Council, the Golden Cup at the China Arts and Crafts Fair, and three consecutive national gold prizes in ceramic design innovation. His pieces are housed in prestigious collections, including the Purple Light Pavilion of Zhongnanhai, the National Art Museum of China, the National Museum of Chinese Craft Art, and the Nanjing Museum.

Committed to promoting Zisha culture, Shi has lectured, visited, and exchanged ideas at art institutions and universities in dozens of countries, including the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, and Japan. A diligent and insightful learner, he is recognized as a leading mid-career figure in the Zisha field, excelling in both sculpture and teapot design.
