Born in 1953 in Yixing, the capital of purple clay pottery, Li Zhenghua joined the Yixing Purple Clay Craft Factory in 1972, where he studied purple clay sculpture and carving under the tutelage of Master Xu Xiutang, a China National Master of Arts and Crafts. In 1975, he further honed his teapot-making skills by learning from renowned masters such as Xu Hantang, Lü Yaochen, and Wang Yinxian. With a solid foundation in both sculpture and teapot artistry, Li infuses his works with a deep understanding of Buddhist philosophy, resulting in pieces that are delicate yet vivid. He is particularly renowned for his studies and creations of Buddhist deities. His works are majestic and solemn in form, exuding an extraordinary aura, and have won numerous awards. Widely acclaimed in Southeast Asia, he is affectionately known as "Guanyin Li" for his masterful depictions of the Bodhisattva Guanyin.
