Description

Cultural Background

Yixing teapot (yi shing)monk's hat fully handmade with di cao qing 235ml

The teapot has a full, round shape. It is wide at the top and narrows at the base. The parts fit together smoothly. The design is neat and balanced.

It looks like a monk’s hat, simple and elegant. From above, the lid spreads out like lotus petals. The knob is shaped like a Bodhi seed.

The spout is strong. The handle flows gently. The whole teapot feels calm and sacred. It stands firm, pure and free from worldly noise.

Its lines are soft and graceful. The size is well-proportioned. It shows the quiet beauty of purple clay. The teapot feels refined and timeless.

Beauty is more than looks. It brings peace to the soul. We admire tall mountains and bright flowers. We long to be one with nature.

When making this teapot, the mind is clear. There are no distractions. The maker and the clay become one.

Authentic Dicaoqing yixing zisha Clay

This Dicaoqing ore was mined in 1990 from the No. 4 Well Mining Area of Huanglong Mountain in Dingshu Town, Yixing City. Over the next four years, it was carefully processed into clay by Siyutao Clay Workshop.

Crafting Process

  • Material Selection: High-quality Dicaoqing ore chunks were handpicked.

  • Weathering: The ore was naturally weathered in an open-air stockyard for three years.

  • Second Selection: The finest pieces were manually chosen again from the best ore.

  • Crushing: The Dicaoqing ore was ground into powder using a traditional stone mill.

After many meticulous steps, the clay blocks were formed. Throughout the process, Siyutao insisted on traditional handcrafting methods—no machinery was used, and only pure water was added (no chemicals)—to achieve the highest quality clay.

In 1994, the clay blocks were stored in a cellar for moisture retention and aging. It wasn’t until 2025 that the clay was finally retrieved.

Through 30 years of natural aging, Siyutao has obtained the finest, highest-grade Dicaoqing clay. Its color is naturally deep and rich in minerals, presenting a pure, brown hue—a true masterpiece of time and tradition.
