Jiyun Lu’s handmade teapots are an intimate dialogue between the artist and the material of clay, with each piece taking shape through a process of slapping and slapping. Jiyun Lu’s method involves slapping thin sheets of clay into the body of the teapot, a practice that reflects the rhythm of time and the accumulation of experience. “Once the slapping begins,” Jiyun Lu recalls, “the dance begins.” This tactile sensation reveals an ineffable connection between maker and medium, as touch imprints intention and collaboration into the work.

The resulting teapots incorporate elements of landscape and myth, recalling natural and mythological forms such as the sea, dragons, and rocks.
