Yixing purple clay zisha artists are divided into five levels by the government according to their professional titles.

level 2 National Assistant Crafts Artist （国家级助理工艺美术师）
level 3 National Arts and Crafts Artist （国家级工艺美术师）
level 4 National Senior Arts and Crafts Artist（国家级高级工艺美术师）
level 5 National Researcher-level Senior Arts and Crafts Artist （研究员级高级工艺美术师=正高级工艺美术师）
These five levels require craftsmen to take theoretical exams and practical tests, and they cannot skip levels. For example, if a craftsman wants to have a level 5 title, he must have the titles of the first four levels.
