yixing teapot artist Shao Yufeng

Born in Yixing in 1954, Shao Yufeng joined the Yixing Purple Clay Craft Factory in 1972, studying under renowned purple clay masters Wang Yinkun and Gao Lijun. In 1985, she served as the Chief Instructor of Purple Clay Art in the First Branch of the Purple Clay Factory. From 1988 to 1995, she worked as the lead instructor at the Purple Clay Artisan Training Center. Since 1995, she has been working at the Purple Clay Factory Research Institute. Through years of dedication to purple clay art, she has cultivated a solid foundation in craftsmanship and possesses comprehensive skills. She is capable of creating various purple clay forms entirely by hand. Her works are characterized by precise form and vivid expression—elegant yet understated, refined in style, and flawless in execution. Her innovations do not follow trends; instead, she advocates for cultural depth, spiritual resonance, and aesthetic sophistication, gradually forming a distinctive artistic style of her own.
