Born in 1944 into a renowned pottery family in Dingshu, Yixing, Jiangsu, Zhang Honghua began her artistic journey in 1958 when she enrolled at the Yixing Zisha (Purple Clay) Pottery Factory as an apprentice. There, she studied under Wang Yinchun, one of the "Seven Great Masters" of Zisha art. Starting in 1961, she further honed her skills under the guidance of Gu Jingzhou, mastering the full handmade craftsmanship of bamboo-themed teapots, such as the Bamboo Segment and Bamboo Node styles.
