Artistic Career and Achievements

• 1990: Moved to Yixing, Jiangsu Province, initially making a living by painting folk murals. After being exposed to Zisha art, his artistic potential was unleashed. He rapidly distinguished himself in Zisha pottery carving and teapot making, and with a solid fine arts background, quickly became a renowned ceramic artist of the new generation.

• May 2005: In cooperation with his wife Fan Guoying, after multiple rounds of selection by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, and other authorities, their teapot works were chosen as the designated state-gift creations. Over 100 varieties of their handcrafted and carved teapots were presented to Chinese and foreign leaders. As a result, the couple became known as “the First Couple of State-Gift Zisha”.

• 2014: Once again, together with his wife Fan Guoying, he was designated as the artist for the APEC Economic Leaders’ special Yixing Zisha teapots, creating 31 such exclusive teapots for the heads of state.
