Description

Cultural Background

The ji quan teapot was originally designed by Shi Dabin,

a renowned master of teapot art from the Ming Dynasty in ancient China.

It later entered the public eye and has been reproduced by teapot artists across various periods. As a form of handmade art,

each ji quan teapot carries the unique experiences and emotions of its maker,

expressing distinct personalities through their craftsmanship.

This Ji Quan Teapot is a fully handcrafted work by artist Zhou Wenbin.

Drawing water and savoring tea embody the leisurely elegance of ancient literati,

and poetic descriptions of such scenes have been frequently celebrated in historical texts. [Drawing spring water requires no water jar for the task]

—This vessel truly embodies the essence of "wandering clouds and wild cranes between mountain and water,

whispering pines and bamboo huts under the moonlight."

yixing zisha clay duan ni

Authentic lao duanni yixing zisha Clay

This lao duanni ore was mined in 1990 from the No. 4 Well Mining Area of Huanglong Mountain in Dingshu Town, Yixing City. It was carefully processed into clay by Siyutao Clay Workshop in 2005.

Crafting Process

Material Selection: High-quality lao duan ni ore chunks were handpicked.

Weathering: The ore was naturally weathered in an open-air stockyard for three years.

Second Selection: The finest pieces were manually chosen again from the best ore.

Crushing: The lao duan ni ore was ground into powder using a traditional stone mill.

After many meticulous steps, the clay blocks were formed. Throughout the process, Siyutao insisted on traditional handcrafting methods—no machinery was used, and only pure water was added (no chemicals)—to achieve the highest quality clay.
