Description
Culture background
The Siting teapot originally evolved from the pear-shaped pot, with an elegant design. Lu Siting, a pottery maker from the early Qing Dynasty, has little recorded personal history in current research on Yixing teapot artisans. However, the Siting teapot he designed remains a classic shape, passed down and celebrated by later generations.
This siting teapot is made of zhu ni clay, warm—not a flashy red, but a soft orange like a persimmon ripened in late autumn, its skin dusted with a faint frost, carrying a gentle sweetness. Holding it in your palm, you’ll find it light in weight but rich in warmth, like cradling a small piece of solidified sunset. When used to brew tea, the liquor seems touched by sunlight—smooth, bright, and comforting.
The curves of the Siting teapot form a three-part oval shape. The line starts from the knob, flows downward, then sharply narrows at the shoulder before swelling into a full belly. Its balanced proportions retain the classical essence of the pear-shaped pot, while the sharp turn at the neck adds a modern sculptural touch—a curve that doesn’t follow a single circular motion.
