Description

This Dezhong-shaped Yixing teapot is a classic work by Fan Shuangyuan, a national-level master of arts and crafts. The overall proportions are well balanced and full of tension. The spout and handle are harmonious in structure and substance, with a rich, full sense of spirit and vitality. It reflects the artist Fan’s perfect interpretation of the classic Dezhong theme. It is made of 100% pure Siyutao Da Hong Pao clay and has undergone four kiln firings, resulting in a reddish, lustrous, and translucent color. This teapot is truly an excellent collector’s piece.

From the design drawing through handcrafting to kiln firing and final forming, the Dezhong design took one month. Siyutao selected only the finest pieces among them. Only after Siyutao completed its selection were the remaining inferior pieces bought by other merchants.

The artist Fan put four Dezhong teapots into the kiln, and in the end only two qualified pieces were produced. What is presented before you is the most perfect one among them. Every handmade teapot is an individual piece, and differences in condition can lead to huge differences in collectible value.

yixing zisha da hong pao ore

Dahongpao clay and Zhuni clay come from paragenetic mineral deposits. Dahongpao clay places higher demands on the artist’s craftsmanship and has a redder, more lustrous color. You can see it in the picture below. The red part is Dahongpao. The orange part is zhu ni.

This is high-quality Da Hong Pao yuan kuang ore preserved by the Siyutao Ren family. You can clearly see its granular texture. The ore is weathered and the red portions are manually selected, then refined into clay. The content of the red portion directly affects the quality and color of the finished teapot.

The Siyutao Ren family has achieved the finest quality: the raw material for Da Hong Pao clay is made entirely from red Da Hong Pao ore, reaching the highest grade of 100% pure.

This is a magnified close-up of the teapot, where you can see abundant mineral content.
