Born in 1957 in Dingshu Town, Yixing, Jiangsu, Wu Yake holds a bachelor’s degree in Art and Design from Sichuan Agricultural University. He began his career in 1979 at the Yixing Purple Clay Pottery Factory, where he studied comprehensively under Xu Xiutang, a renowned Chinese Master of Arts and Crafts, and later received dedicated guidance from Jiangsu Master Chu Lizhi.

With over three decades devoted to the art of purple clay, Wu Yake has honed his skills through persistent practice, thoughtful learning, and creative conceptualization. His works blend traditional foundations with cultural and sculptural innovations, crafted with precision to appeal to both connoisseurs and the general public, earning wide appreciation among collectors.

From the 1980s through 2015, his creations have received over 30 provincial and national awards. Selected pieces are housed in prestigious collections, including the Purple Light Pavilion of Zhongnanhai (Beijing), museums in Jiangsu, Wuxi, Tianjin, the University of Iceland Library, and institutions in South Korea. He has published multiple research papers in journals such as Jiangsu Ceramics, Jingdezhen Ceramics, and China Ceramic Industry.

Wu Yake holds national patents for five original works and has been invited to participate in international ceramic academic conferences and symposiums in Malaysia, South Korea, the United States, and other countries.
