Hua Xueqin 华雪琴 (also known as 雪勤) was born in 1972 in Yixing, the renowned "Pottery Capital." Her journey in purple clay art began in 1989 when she joined the Yixing Purple Clay Factory （yixing factory No.1）and studied under the skilled potter Song Shunying 宋顺英, mastering the techniques of teapot making. She later earned a bachelor's degree in Art Design from Nanjing Normal University 南京师范大学艺术设计专业 and furthered her studies in the Advanced Seminar on Ceramic Humanities and Arts at Tsinghua University's Academy of Arts & Design 清华大学美术学院陶瓷人文艺术高级研修班 . In 2010, she became a disciple of Wu Ming 吴鸣, a Master of Chinese Ceramic Art and a Senior Professional Craft Artist 中国陶瓷艺术大师、正高级工艺美术师, under whose guidance she deepened her understanding of ceramic creative design.
Today, Hua holds the titles of Senior Professional Craft Artist and Senior Rural Revitalization Craft Artist 正高级工艺美术师与正高级乡村振兴技艺师职称. In 2023, she was honored as a Jiangsu Provincial Ceramic Art Master (third session) 第三届江苏省陶瓷艺术大师 and is also recognized as a representative inheritor of Yixing's intangible cultural heritage 宜兴市非物质文化遗产代表性传承人. As a member of the China Democratic League, she serves on the Jiangsu Ceramic Art Committee and the Jiangsu Arts and Crafts Association, and is a committee member of the Yixing Youth Federation. She has been named one of the "Top Ten Young Ceramic Artists of Yixing" 陶都宜兴十佳青年陶艺家 and a "Famous Teapot Maker of Yixing. 陶都宜兴制壶名人" Currently, she works at the Ceramic Art Studio of the Yixing Ceramic Museum 宜兴陶瓷博物馆陶艺工作室 .
Her works are distinctive—modern in sensibility yet deeply rooted in traditional aesthetics. They have received numerous awards at national and provincial competitions, including a bronze prize and an excellence award at the 9th and 10th National Ceramic Art Design Innovation Competitions, a gold prize at the Jiangsu Ceramic Art Innovation Competition, and a gold award at the China Master Arts and Crafts Expo. She also won first prize for three consecutive years in the Yixing Handmade Teapot Competition. Many of her pieces have been collected by institutions such as the Wuxi Museum, Zibo China Ceramics Museum, Yixing Ceramic Museum, and Anhui Museum. In 2016, she was invited to the United States and the United Kingdom for ceramic art exchanges.
