Fan Hongquan is a renowned figure in the world of Yixing Zisha art, holding the prestigious titles of Jiangsu Provincial Master of Arts and Crafts and Jiangsu Provincial Master of Ceramic Art (both awarded in 2011). As a Senior Craft Artist and Researcher, he is also a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Chinese Ceramic Art.

Born in 1941 in Shushan, Yixing, he began his apprenticeship at the Yixing Zisha Pottery Factory in 1956 under the guidance of masters Wu Yungen and Zhu Kexin. Over a career spanning more than fifty years, he has dedicated himself exclusively to the art of Zisha, developing a distinctive style celebrated for its imposing presence, bold forms, and rustic simplicity. He is particularly acclaimed for his mastery in creating large and monumental sculptural teapots.

A pioneer in his field, Fan revolutionized modern Zisha art in 1973 with his groundbreaking "Large Dongpo Overhead Teapot," which set a new standard for the creation of giant teapots. His most iconic works include the "Dongpo Overhead Teapot" series, "Spring Herald Teapot" series, "Plum Stump Teapot" series, "Grape Basket Overhead Teapot," "Three Friends in a Bundle Teapot," and "Immortal Gourd Overhead Teapot."

Fan's works are held in the permanent collections of esteemed institutions worldwide, including the Beijing Palace Museum, Zhongnanhai's Purple Light Pavilion, Shanghai Museum of Craft Art, Taiwan Historical Museum, and the Hong Kong Tea Culture Museum.
